Located on Wisconsin Highway 28 between the cities of Horicon and Mayville and close to major population areas, the International Education Center architects recommended LEED Guidelines at a Silver Certification Level for an environmentally sustainable facility. WB Corp.delivered the following green building features:
-Sustainable site features include limited site disturbance with storm water management and erosion control
systems to protect both marsh and groundwater.
- Building features include optimized energy performance through natural day lighting and high performance glazing, and extensive use of recycled products from room finishes to interior insulation
-Additional environmental features include landscaping with indigenous plants and a rainwater capturing system for watering the landscaped areas.
The building also has:
- A large viewing area with spectacular view of the Marsh.
- A Children’s discovery room with hands-on displays.
- Two classrooms with seating for 30 each and the ability to open to one room.
- A high-tech auditorium with seating for 100 with a high definition, multi-media rear projection screen.
